You MUST install the software on to your computer before any
updates can be received

IBM PC or 100% compatible
Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP
Internet Explorer version 5.5 or above
Note: Support for Apple Macs is not available at this time
Software installation instructions for use with Windows 98SE
1. Switch on PC
2. Insert the CD marked TRXX ROAD SAFETY DEVICE + TRXX Setup
in the CD Rom tray.
3. Close CD Rom drive tray.
4. CD will start to auto run installation software.
5. Monitor displays “Install shield” window.
6. Screen shows window “Building driver information database”
7. Monitor shows “VCP Installer Install shield wizard” window
with text “Install wizard complete” Setup has finished
VCP installer on your computer.
8. Click “Finish” Window disappears.
9. Click on “Start” at the bottom left hand corner
of your monitor’s screen.
10. Click on “Run” Screen shows Run window.
11. Click on “Browse” Shows Browse window.
12. Click on Drop down menu.
13. Highlight your CD Rom drive containing the CD “TRXX
ROAD SAFETY DEVICE”.
14. Single click on “TRXXsetup” this will select
the program you wish to run.
15. Click on “Open”.
16. Browse window disappears.
17. In the Run window click on “OK”.
18. Screen shows window “TRXX Update utility install
shield wizard”.
19. Click “Next” button at the bottom of the window.
20. Screen shows the destination of the files to be installed.
21. Click “Install” button.
22. Processor activates & installation commences……..Please
wait…
23. Window shows “Install shield wizard completed”.
****NOTE Launch program box in window should be ticked****
24. Click “Finish” Button

3. Close CD Rom drive tray

with text “Install wizard complete” Setup has finished

of your monitors screen
10. Click on “My Computer” Screen shows various
devices within your PC
11. Right click on “CD TRXX ROAD SAFETY DEVICE” Under
Devices with Removable Storage Shows menu
12. Click on “Explore”
13. Window will open with the contents of your CD Rom
14. Double click on “TRxx setup” icon this will
start the installation program
15. Install shield window opens, shows “Preparing to
install…”
16. Window changes to TRXX Update utility- InstallShield Wizard
“ Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for TRxx Update Utility”
17. Click “Next” button at the bottom of the window
18. Screen shows the destination of the files to be installed
19. Click “Install” button
20. Processor activates & installation commences……..Please
wait…
21. Window shows “Install shield wizard completed”

****NOTE**** This concludes the first part of installation
process please refer to the next sheet for further instructions
on the sheet marked Instructions for installing the TR30 under

Instructions for installing the TR30 under Windows XP
1. Power on PC
2. Insert the CD marked TR Series Utility & instruction
Manual in the CD Rom Tray
3. Cancelling any auto running software that may start at this
moment in time. If you opt not do this you will be offered
the opportunity to remove the software previously installed,
proceed with caution as required.
4. Locate the USB socket on the PC, This may be located on
the rear panel of the processor unit close to the mouse & keyboard
connectors, alternatively in a convenient place on the front
panel.
****NOTE**** If you are using a laptop PC please take care
to locate the correct socket prior to insertion of the USB
Plug.
5. Insert the other end of your USB cable into the corresponding
socket located at the base of the TR30 off to one side, taking
care to ensure correct orientation of the plug.
6. The TR30 will now power up, with backlight but no display
at the moment.
7. On your PC Monitor you will see a window appear “Welcome
to Found New Hardware Wizard”.
8. Window asks, “What do you want the wizard to do?”.
9. Select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”.
10. Click “Next” to continue.
11. Window shows “Please wait while the wizard searches”
12. Window shows “Please wait while the wizard installs
the software”
13. Another window pops up stating “The software you
are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify
it’s compatibility with Windows XP”
14. Click “Continue anyway”
15. Software installation will continue………
16. Window will appear “Completing the Found New Hardware
Wizard” The wizard has finished installing the software
for SS3 Device
17. Click “Finish”
18. Window appears “Welcome to Found New Hardware Wizard” this
helps you install software for SS3 Port.
19. Window asks, “What do you want the wizard to do?”.
20. Select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)”.
21. Click “Next” to continue.
22. Another window pops up stating “The software you
are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify
it’s compatibility with Windows XP”
23. Click “Continue anyway”
24. Window will appear “Completing the Found New Hardware
Wizard” The wizard has finished installing the software
for TRxx Road Safety Device
25. Click “Finish”
Updating to the latest TDS Utility Software
1. Check the current version of your Utility
Software by clicking on the desktop icon. Select Help. Select
About. The Version number should be indicated.
2. To update your Utility you first
need to uninstall the old utility programme. Go to Start and
select Settings, Control Panel. Open the Add/Remove Programs
window and find the TRx Update Utility. Remove this programme
using the Remove button.
3. Close all windows.
4. Connect to the internet and download the
latest version of the TR Update Utility from the TDS
download site.
5. Install the latest utility by unzipping
the file and double clicking on TRxSetup.exe.
Installing downloadable Character voices
Please note: you must install version 1.3
or later of the TR Update Utility before you can install the
character voices. Please see Updating to the latest TDS Utility
Software
1. Download the character voices from downloads
page. Unzip the files and save them
to the following directory: C:\Program Files\TDS\TRx\Remote\
2. Make sure your TR30 is connected to your
PC and then start the update utility on your desktop.
3. Click on Change Settings.
4. Select the Sound tab.
5. Select Voice Style by clicking on the
"..." button to the right of the small window and select the
sound style that you would like to install.
6. Press the download button. This will replace
the sound file on your unit with the new one. DO NOT INTERRUPT
THIS PROCESS.
7. Once you have tried it you can repeat
the process to select other voices or return to the original
male or female voices.
