Cannot Auto Detect device on Com Port “X”

This error can be caused by a number of problems the most popular of which is failure to install both ‘Found New Hardware’ Wizards.
This problem can be rectified by un-installing the software from your PC and re-installing it.
Re-connect your TR30 and WAIT for the TWO ‘Found New Hardware’ Wizards to appear one after the other.
Follow the prompts to install automatically as recommended.
Disconnect the TR30 from your PC and wait 30 seconds before re-connecting.
Enter your PASSWORD into the update utility by clicking on File > Password.
Click in the white box and enter your password.
Click on “OK” to exit

How do I personalise the multi-colour display on the TR30?

Select Change Settings > Display on the tabs.
The colours for each screen type are adjusted by selecting each of the Red Green or Blue slide controls and adjusting them to the colour combination you require.
Select NORMAL SCREEN and adjust the colour to suit your personal preference or dashboard illumination.
Select and adjust ALARM SCREEN to a colour that you will notice the most when a Full Alert is taking place. We recommend you select FULL RED ONLY for best visibility.
Select and adjust SOFT ALERT as above. This is the alert you will see when you are approaching a site where the hazard or camera site is on the other carriageway or you are under the speed limit. We recommend GREEN or BLUE which are more recessive colours.
The contrast need not be adjusted at this stage unless you are having any problems reading the display.

I keep seeing ERROR 11004. What causes this?

Error 11004 is caused when the client software (that is, the software on your PC) is unable to communicate with our server.
It can be caused when our server is offline. But it is far more likely that your Firewall, should you have one installed on your PC, is stopping the TR software from communicating with our server.
To test this please switch off your firewall to check for updates. This should correct the problem.
If the TR Update Utility successfully communicates with our server, then configure your Firewall software to allow the TR Update Utility to have access to the web and then ensure your Firewall is turned back on.

How do I accurately mark a new fixed camera site
(eg Gatso/Truvelo etc)?

Guidance note: ABOVE ALL SAFETY FIRST!
Your precise location is stored when you press the NEW button. Selection of type of site, e.g. “Fixed” “Mobile” “School” “Blackspot”, does not store any location details. Your TR20/30 will display POINT STORED when a site is recorded.
If at all possible, and above all safe, the correct way to store a new camera site is to pull up next to the camera site. Press the “NEW” button; make a note of the speed limit and the direction in which you are travelling e.g. north west or south east etc (This can be noted from the display of the TR20/30). Finally select the type of camera it was e.g. Gatso, Truvelo SPECS etc.
If you are not sure what enforcement camera it was, generally, if it was directed towards you it will be a Truvelo; if it was looking away from you in the direction of your travel it will be a Gatso.

Having marked the camera site PLEASE PULL AWAY CAREFULLY.

How do I mark a new camera site properly while I am on the move?

The best way to do this is to wait until you are approximately 5 meters or 15 feet in front of the new site and then press the “NEW” button. This will give the unit time to record your position and the precise location of the camera. Make a mental note of the camera enforcement direction [i.e. towards you (Truvelo) or away from you (Gatso)] and the speed limit in force at that location
If you are marking a site on the opposite side of the road the same rules apply but in reverse, i.e. wait until you are exactly parallel with the site and press the “NEW” button.

How do I mark mobile enforcement vans in a layby or on a bridge?

By far the safest way to mark a van in a lay-by is to pull up behind it and press the “NEW” button. Then make your required notes e.g. the speed limit and direction of travel, before pulling away safely. We understand it is not always possible to do this, in which case the same rules for marking a new fixed site while travelling apply.
If you spot a camera van on a bridge, and you wish to mark it’s position, press the “NEW” button just before you pass under the bridge so it is recorded as close to the bridge as possible. This will make it clear to our mapping team precisely where the indicated site is e.g. on the bridge and not by the side of the road near a bridge.

When should I use the “DELETE” button?

It is NOT possible to delete any camera enforcement site from your TR20/30 database. By pressing the “DELETE” button you store your current position together with the code number of the site you wish to delete.
When you “CHECK FOR UPDATES” this information together with any new locations you may have stored are passed to us for inspection. We will investigate the site either by sending one of our mapping team to the site or we will contact you to request the reason for marking the site with the “DELETE” button. If valid we will remove the site from our database and next time you “CHECK FOR UPDATES” the site will be removed from your TR20/30.
This information is of great use to us and helps us keep up with the ever changing camera locations and subsequently maintaining an accurate database for your benefit and indeed all our customers.
The “DELETE” button should only be used if the site you are deleting no longer exists. You should be on the road where the enforcement camera(s) has been removed. This may be at an area where there have been extensive roadworks for a long period of time such as those on the M25.
Please note: Regular updates are necessary to ensure you have the very latest information regarding road hazard and camera enforcement sites. We recommend updating at least once a week. You will only receive an update if a change has been made to our data.
You cannot delete a site, be it a fixed, mobile or blackspot, just because you do not want it on your own TR20/30. Every one of our customers shares a common database; this ensures consistency and accuracy.

How do I delete a mobile site that I have never seen in operation?

The simple answer is you cannot do this. All of our mobile sites are in our database as a result of someone seeing a Safety Camera Partnership mobile van, motorcycle or a police officer with RADAR or LASER in that location at some point in the past. You will never know when that site is going to be visited again. Next time it might be you passing when the speed limit is being enforced and we are sure you would like a timely alert of it’s presence.

I am an AOL user with a Netgear DG834G Wireless router seeing "TR Series Update Utility X 301: Time-out".
What causes this problem ?

When a Netgear DG834G Wireless router is used with an AOL connection sometimes "TR Series Update Utility X 301: Time-out" can occur. This can be cured by contacting AOL and asking their technical support how to change the MTU setting on your router.

As standard it comes set at [120006]"MTU Size"=1458 in the configuration file this must be changed to [120006]"MTU Size"=1400 in order to work with the AOL connection, this will not affect your normal internet access it will however allow your TR20/30 to connect with our webserver and perform a download.

I am not picking up any indications of mobile enforcement sites what causes this ?

This problem is more often than not caused by incorrect setup of the TR20/30

Please Note:
In order to make these adjustments you must have update utility version 1.31 or higher. If your TR20/30 was incorrectly set up using version 1.31 or higher on a different PC and you wish to correct the problem on your own PC check to see which version of update utility you have.

Open the TR Series Utility and click on "Help" on the menu bar.

Select "About". This will show TR Series Update Utility Version x.xx

If this shows version 1.20 or lower you must download the latest version of the update utility from our website. To be taken there now click here.

You must REMOVE your old update utility software before installing the new one.

When installing the new version of the Update Utility do not forget the FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARDS AND TO RE-INSERT YOUR PASSWORD.

Refer to Updating to the latest TDS Utility Software

Remedy

Plug your TR20/30 device into your PC using the USB cable supplied.

Open the TR Series Update Utility v1.31 or higher.

Click on "Change Settings"

Click on the "Sound" Tab at the top of the window.

There you will see four sliders each one controlling a different aspect of the sounds.

Ensure that the radio button next to Fixed Alerts is selected. Make a note of the position of the four sliders.

Click on the radio button next to Mobile Alerts.

Adjust the slider controls to match those selected for the Fixed Alerts.

Click on the "Test" button next to the slider that controls "Volume" you should hear a bleep.

Once you have carried out this procedure you will find your mobile alerts have been restored to full operation.

I own a TR20/30 Lite and I am not receiving any laser alerts when I pass a van. Why is this ?

In the case of the TR20 & TR30 Lite products the main cause of this problem has been found to be incorrect insertion of the LASER detector jack plug. You must ensure the jack plug is pushed fully home into it's socket to give a firm click. This will ensure the correct operation of the LASER detector.

It should be noted that the nature of mobile enforcement dictates that not every vehicle will be targeted by a mobile speed enforcement operator, this may also account for why you have not received a LASER warning.

Why does my TR20/30 lite sometimes drop off the windscreen when it is cold?

In the normal operation of your windscreen vent, after a period of time a microscopic layer of dirt gets deposited on your windscreen. You may have
seen this at it's worst when driving towards the sun in the early morning or evening. This dirt can prevent the vacuum foot from making a perfect seal.

To correct the problem simply remove the TR20/30 lite vacuum mount. Clean with the flexible foot with ordinary glass cleaner together with the location you wish to re-mount the bracket on to the windscreen. Make sure you fully dry and polish the location after cleaning your windscreen. Firmly push the bracket on to the glass. Then while holding the bracket firmly against the glass operate the suction lever to mount the bracket to your windscreen.
Finally re-fit the TR20/30 Lite to the bracket and the problem will be solved.
